Social Media ROI:
Social Media ROI seems to be the topic everyone hates to talk about yet it’s often what most social media managers, brands, leaders and agencies focus on as the most important element of being a social business in 2014. I believe teaching change, documenting success, gaining trust and focusing on community relationships are an essential element of defining what social media ROI is for your brand. To be a true social business brands must first trust their people to be social and understand the importance of including social media managers, community managers and digital leaders when discussing business goals, strategies and objectives. Sadly being included in those discussions requires leaders to understand and embrace the power of a social community and we have a long way to go for that!

Hashtags:
Hashtags are something I believe most non social media people associate with twitter as they are on tv for every live event and even radio commercials. As people begin to embrace the fact that your personal brand or digital footprint is now your 1st impression more and more people are focusing on growing their followers and increasing their chances to be found. I have a post coming out next week focusing on what I call the new “Social Community SEO” but for this first #iSocialTalks I focused on:
- What is a hashtag?
- How do they show up on twitter?
- How do I find popular or common hashtags
- How can hashtags help you find new followers and build influence.
Social Media Automation:
Social Media and content automation are probably second to social media ROI on topics that people love to talk about, argue about and attempt to utilize.
I’m a firm believer in using technology, software and automation to be more productive but never using it for engagement or active communication. This episode I talked about:
- Content Automation (Slideshare below shows my 6 favorite tools)
- When you should use Automation
- What tools I use to schedule and share my content
- What you shouldn’t automate
- Strategy for brands that do automate
