The Best Labor and Delivery Playlist Ever

By Shelly Kramer,

March 26, 2013
best labor and delivery playlist everMy assistant, Haley, is having a baby. Today. And it goes without saying that we love her beyond measure and will miss her desperately. She so seriously keeps all of us on track, not just me.

Haley let us know that she was headed to labor and delivery later today, so in keeping with the hilarity around these parts, our Chief Content Officer, Katy Schamberger, who has a special skill when it comes to music (and lyrics) that is pretty much unmatchable, went to work.

She went straight to The Google for the best playlist on the planet to send to Haley as she’s …. well, doing what you do when you’re having a baby. And, of course, The Goog delivered.

So, without further ado, here you have it….

The Best Labor and Delivery Playlist Ever

Breathe – Michelle Branch
Get Some Sleep – Bic Runga
Can’t Fight This Feeling – REO Speedwagon
Under Pressure – Queen
Push – Matchbox Twenty
Shout – Tears for Fears
Baby – Justin Bieber
Mercy – Duffy
Misery – Maroon 5
Over My Head (Cable Car) – The Fray
Baby One More Time – Britney Spears
I’m Coming Out – Diana Ross
We Made You – Eminem
Hurt So Good – John Mellencamp
I Wanna Be Sedated – The Ramones
Don’t Stop Believin’ – Journey
All That She Wants (Is Another Baby) – Ace of Base
Let’s Get It Started – Black Eyed Peas
My Humps – Black Eyed Peas
Born This Way – Lady Gaga
Shout It Out Loud – Kiss
Stronger – Kanye West
Eye of the Tiger – Survivor
Push It – Salt-N-Pepa

What do you think? Is it the best labor and deliver playlist ever? What did they leave off? Let’s hear it. And what’s your favorite? Mine is, without question, I’m Coming Out. And every time I think about that, I burst out laughing. Mostly with joy that it’s her and not me in the labor and delivery room.

Haley, we’re rooting for you! Push it, girl — push it real good!

PS And you’ve not heard anything until you’ve seen what Katy can do with parody lyrics for Sir Mix-A-Lot’s infamous “Baby Got Back” — that, however, you’ll have to stay tuned for.
