First up, are you ready for some football…advertisements? The Super Bowl is this weekend, and since my team just missed the big game (Next year, Steelers!), I’ll be tuning in to see the ads. This year Audi’s Super Bowl spot, “Daughter,” will focus on women’s equality—a hot topic since the recent Women’s March made headlines at the end of January. Audi isn’t just paying lip service to the issue, as the thought provoking ad says the car company is committed to equal pay. They will use the hashtag, #DriveProgress to promote initiatives throughout the year. “Pay equality is a big message for a big stage,” said Loren Angelo, vice president of marketing, Audi of America. It’s definitely a timely topic. And for Audi the topic is driving the bigger story.
For brands, selling products isn’t about hocking wares. It’s about evoking feelings and telling stories that connect with the audience. I wonder how many other brands will follow suit during the big game. We will be watching to see if the message is well-received. MediaPost
If you thought there was a best time to post on Facebook, you are probably mistaken. There have been several studies done to pinpoint peak times for posting, but your post competes with at least 1,500 others at peak time. Post off-peak thinking you’ll stay one step ahead of the pack, and so might everyone else, making off peak hours just as congested. With all that content vying for eyes and top billing in the newsfeed what are you to do? Let your data guide you. Facebook Analytics is a good place to start.
