Kansas City Fittest Execs and Companies Challenge

By Shelly Kramer,

ingram's magazine fittest company challengeKansas City companies, here’s your chance. Flex your company’s muscle (pun intended) during Ingram’s magazine’s upcoming Fittest Execs and Fittest Companies challenge. The program, which spans a little over 3 months, is designed to improve individual health and an organization’s fiscal fitness through physical fitness and employee wellness.

After all, employees are critical to a company’s success—and businesses that invest in keeping their employees healthy and motivated will not only see a happier workforce, but also be more productive and profitable, too.

The competition helps “change health outcomes for hundreds of participants,” according to Ingram’s. “The premise is simple: executive leadership matters. Leading by example, executives drive results. And results are exactly what the challenge delivers.”

Ingram’s magazine has teamed up with Blue Cross Blue Shield of KC, Quest Diagnostics, YMCA of Greater Kansas City, Holmes Murphy & Associates and the Metropolitan Medical Society of Greater Kansas City to host the challenge. If your business wants to compete in the Fittest Companies challenge, simply gather a team of four, five or six people. Teams should include at least one executive or member from upper management.

The competition kicks off on September 4 with a baseline health assessment that measures a number of factors, including blood pressure, aerobic capacity, strength, BMI, height/weight and flexibility.

After that, participants have 108 days to get in shape—and as part of the challenge, they’ll have free YMCA access. In December, a final assessment will measure each contestant’s progress to determine a winning individual and winning team.

Giving employees the tools to be healthy and active is not only a great idea—it’s a smart investment in the future of your employees and your business. And by participating in something like this as a team, you’ll help motivate your employees to do their best—and learn from examples set by executive management.
