This is the perfect time to prepare for a trip down memory lane, because Google wants not only present-day images, but older photos, too. Here’s some criteria to consider:
- Old black and white images of Kansas City
- Old family heritage images—settlers, homesteads, historic buildings, etc.
- KC jazz bands from the 1930s and 40s
- City suburbs in the 1950s and 60s
- Kansas City nightlife (past and present)
- Photos of people in front of local landmarks
The technology giant is also on the hunt for present-day images, too, including photos in homes, at restaurants, at the zoo, on 39th Street, at concerts and outdoor festivals, at sporting events, at Worlds of Fun/Oceans of Fun and in Westport and the Power and Light District, to name a few.
If your photos and/or video are accepted for use in the commercial, you’ll be paid $50—not to mention the heaping piles of fame and glory that come from being on TV.
Images and video must be submitted to T2 – Back Alley Films no later than April 18. When you submit your media, you must also sign a release form. Mail your images and video or drop them off between 10:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday at T2, 1906 Wyandotte Street, Kansas City, Mo.
We’ll definitely be digging through our photo albums, scrapbooks and computers for images we can submit. This is a cool chance to not only show off our awesome city, but also share what Kansas City has meant to you and your family.
Let us know if you plan on submitting any photos and/or video, and we’ll be sure to keep you up-to-date on when the commercial will air!
