The wonderful Heidi Massey kindly sent me a heads-up that submissions are being accepted through the month of February. If you’re part of a nonprofit organization, your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to create a video that shows the work your organization is doing and how you’re making an impact.
The creators of the winning videos will take home one of four $3,500 prize donations, along with products worth an additional $3,500 provided by Cisco, a free registration to next year’s Nonprofit Technology Conference and a special prize from the Case Foundation that recognizes fearless use of video.
I’m excited to see the submissions roll in—after all, I love keeping tabs on what nonprofits are doing and spreading the word about how people can get involved. And this contest isn’t just a way for deserving nonprofits to be recognized; it also showcases the importance and power of video, and hopefully encourages other organizations to make video a more important part of their marketing and communications strategies.
Need a little more convincing about the power of video? Consider this viewpoint from See3: “For nonprofits, video is a great way to share your mission, messages and goals. The medium educates, communicates urgency and tells honest, human stories that move people to create change.”
Once you’ve finished your video masterpiece, upload it on the contest’s YouTube page. Entries are being accepted through Feb. 29, 2012. Sixteen finalists will be selected on March 12, and public voting begins on March 14.
So what are you waiting for? Start filming!
