Let’s Talk LinkedIn At Podcamp Topeka

By Katy Ryan Schamberger,

October 18, 2011
Podcamp Topeka 2011LinkedIn is, without a doubt, a must-have tool in your social media marketing arsenal. The social networking site has now surpassed 120 million users in the U.S. and grows by approximately 1 million new members each week. That’s not only a lot of eyeballs – that’s a heck of a lot of opportunity, too.

Not sure how to get started on LinkedIn? Maybe you have a profile but you’re not sure what to do next, or how to maximize your presence on the site. If you want to dive into the intricacies of LinkedIn, including the benefits of the site’s newer features, come check out my breakout session: “How To Get The Most Out Of LinkedIn For Business,” during Saturday’s Podcamp Topeka.

Billed as “The best unconference in the Midwest,” Podcamp Topeka is an all-day lineup of social media keynotes and sessions, all for the insanely low price of $10. Yep, you read that right – 10. Dollars. Not only is Podcamp Topeka a fantastic learning opportunity, but it’s also a marathon networking session, all for the price of a couple of lattes. It just doesn’t get any better than that.

I’d love for you to come hang out with me and discuss all things LinkedIn, but there’s tons of other can’t-miss sessions, too, including a keynote from our friend, Ben Smith of Social:IRL.

Choose from a wide array of breakout sessions covering everything from working with a freelancer and a PHP crash course to getting started with podcasting and connecting business objectives to social media. Google Plus and social media in government are on the agenda, too, making Podcamp Topeka a well-rounded event that’s ideal for a variety of social media, tech, marketing and creative professionals.

(Psst – and did I mention it’s only 10 bucks? For the whole day? Just making sure.)

Podcamp Topeka will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Topeka & Shawnee County Public Library this Saturday, Oct. 22. What better way to spend a Saturday than with some of the best and brightest local social media minds?

Now that you’re pumped up for Podcamp, head here to register online. And be sure to browse the schedule to help plan your day. If you decide to come to my LinkedIn session (it’s a no-brainer, really), make sure you introduce yourself. And even if you don’t, well, I suppose I still want to meet you, too. See you Saturday!
